Gary & Lorraine in Dudo

April 17

Hooray, Gary is here for 2 weeks! The plan is to spend a few short days in Dudo and in between we spend 10 days in turkey. My sister in law Lorraine decided to join us for the trip. L has never been to Dudo so that's why they are flying here first and then we all fly to istanbul. I couldn't wait to start!
Since there's little spare time to get over jet lag I had planned to take them out of the apt as soon as they arrive. We took the train up to kaiserswerth which is a suburb north of dudo. It's a pretty village along the river with a cool biergarten.
My friend mike who is here for a 2 year expat assignment came along for the day. We walked along the river for 4 hours, yep I wore them out. It was a beautiful day and the green of the trees and meadows was amazing. At the half way point we found a quaint little restaurant with a nice outside patio. The occasion called for a break and a beer so..... At the end of the walk we explored the old castle next to the biergarten. Great end to a nice day with beer and flammkuchen (german pizza) and waffles.
